न्यूरोभाषाविज्ञान में भाषाविज्ञान और मनोभाषाविज्ञान (Linguistics and Psycholinguistics in Neurolinguistics)

न्यूरोभाषाविज्ञान में मुख्यतः मनोभाषाविज्ञान और भाषाविज्ञान द्वारा ‘भाषा’ और ‘मानव मस्तिष्क’ के संबंध में दिए गए सिद्धांतों के परीक्षण (testing) और मूल्यांकन (evaluation) का कार्य किया जाता है। सैद्धांतिक भाषाविज्ञान भाषा संरचना एवं भाषा सूचना (language information) के संगठन से संबंधित व्याख्यात्मक मॉडलों को प्रस्तावित करता है। मनोभाषाविज्ञान भाषा सूचना कैसे मस्तिष्क में संसाधित होती है, के व्याख्यायक मॉडलों को प्रस्तावित करता है। न्यूरोभाषाविज्ञान में इस बात के लिए मस्तिष्क क्रियात्मकता (brain activity) का परीक्षण किया जाता है कि मस्तिष्क की जैविक संरचनाओं (biological structures of brain) जैसे:- न्यूरान्स, में मनोभाषावैज्ञानिक मॉडलों का संसाधन किस प्रकार किया जाता है।

इस प्रकार न्यूरोभाषाविज्ञान न्यूरोविज्ञान और भाषाविज्ञान के योग से बना एक अंतरानुशासनिक ज्ञानक्षेत्र है जिसमें अध्ययन एवं विश्लेषण हेतु भाषावैज्ञानिक ज्ञान का उपयोग किया जाता है। इसके अतिरिक्त इसमें मनोभाषाविज्ञान की भी आवश्यकता होती है। इसे Elisabeth Atudies के शब्दों में भी देख सकते हैं, “Neurolinguistics studies the relation of language and communication to different aspects of brain function, in other words it tries to explore how the brain understand and produces language and communication. This involves attempting to combine neurological/neurophysiological theory (how the brain is structured and how it functions) with linguistic theory (how language is structured and how it functions). Aspart from neurology and linguistics, psychology is another central source discipline for neurolinguistics.
